Wilson Mountain - ??

I went for a little hike around Wilson Mountain Reservation today... lots of lady's slippers flowering there, now.
I took the green loop trail counterclockwise. Right near the trailhead coming out, it looks like a tornado came through. I wonder if this is a natural disaster or manmade? I was a little nervous hiking through for fear something might fall on me! [Come to think of it, this is a little bit what my apartment looks like right now.]
