Today was the day that I intended to do the Quinnipiac River section of the Quinnipiac Trail. As I started out, I noticed that the river was flooding nearly to the edge of the trail.

This picture looks like the stretch of the Q that runs alongside the Merrit Pkway. Green and shady. I am interested in the river because it is tidal for the first few miles, and it has a winding quality. Nice for birds I imagine. I visited a boat ramp in North Haven last weekend, access off Sackett Point Road. I saw a osprey nest platform not occupied I suspect because it is too close in proximity to kayakers and other humans. Nice site,

Hi Ed,
You are correct, the Merritt runs along the other side of the trail. It's quite noisy!
Probably the Quinnipiac River Trail is a good spot for birders, if that's your interest.
