Pink mountain laurel

Pink mountain laurel

I went for a hike up to Mt. Pisgah today (calling this a mountain is an exaggeration; it is 644 ft high). It started out unreasonably chilly and windy. Fortunately, I started to warm up near the summit.

Mountain laurel is blooming all over the place, now. I spotted both white and pink flowers. The buds are quite strange, if you ask me; designed by aliens.

Happened to find your picture of Mountain Laurel when searching for my children's homeschool. We have been learning about the Blue Ridge Mountains. Wondering if you are located in the Blue Ridge Mountains or anywhere along the Appalachian Mountains? Don't need an EXACT spot just curious abouthe state...my children LOVED your beautiful photos of the mountain scenery!

According to wiki, the Blue Ridge Mountains extend as far north as Pennsylvania. I live in Connecticut. This photo was taken approximately in the middle of the state.

I'm glad you've enjoyed the photos!
